| Day 2 Rome-Vatican City-Rome |
Upon arrival, we visit the Pantheon, Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Trevi Fountain and other monuments. A trip to God's holy Papal States - Vatican, visit the unparalleled magnificent St. Peter's Cathedral, both inside and outside of the sculpture, color stone mosaic murals, and both are extraordinary art of crystallization.
Full day at leisure. Suggest at your own expense to Tivoli town, visit to the Italian Renaissance-style garden villa Esther known to enjoy the hundreds of different in style fountain, in which most unique fountain. (Dinner at your own expense)
| Day 4 Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento | Our morning drive takes us toward south to Pompeii. At the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, we walk through the remarkable ruins of Pompeii, which widely considered by archaeologists to be the finest example of an ancient Roman town. With the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79, the excavated city was buried beneath tons of ash and lava. Later we drive to our hotel in lively Sorrento.
| Day 5 Sorrento – Capri Island – Napoli – Perugia |
This morning we board our ferry for a short cruise across the Bay of Naples to the charming Isle of Capri. This former summer home of Roman emperors is alive with color and character. On arrival, we are taken to Capri town where we enjoy views across the sea to the Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Grande. You may also have the chance to visit the famed Blue Grotto (weather permitting) and then cruise back across the blue Mediterranean to Napoli. Overnight at Perugia.
| Day 6 Perugia – Pisa - Florence |
Our morning sightseeing tour reveals a colorful capital city, with its Etruscan walls, medieval churches, renaissance and baroque palaces; Perugia witnesses its splendor in the past. Here we find Piazza IV Novembre, backed by the Duomo, is the artistic city center; the Fontana Maggiore, with beautiful reliefs carved in the 13th century; the gothic cathedral and one of the most stunning Italian medieval palaces, the Palazzo Priori, which now houses the National Art Gallery of Umbria. This afternoon we drive to Pisa to view the famed Leaning Tower, the marble Cathedral in the ‘Square of Miracles’, and the stone walled old town with countless shops and restaurants. From here we continue on to Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance and capital of Tuscany. Morning sightseeing on foot shows us the Baptistry, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Piazza Signoria and the Basilica of Santa Croce. After lunch we head to the floating city of Venice. Today begins with a cruise along the Giudecca Canal past majestic churches and gracious buildings to St. Mark’s Square. Here we see the Bridge of Sights, Doges’ Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica. Late in the afternoon, we drive to the city of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers – Verona. On arrival, a guided visit of Juliet’s balcony, the 2,000 year old arena, the ornate tombs of the noble Scaliger family and the church of St. Zeno, Verona’s patron saint.
| Day 9 Verona – Italian Lake District - Milan |
Today we head to the Italian Lake District. On arrival we enjoy an excursion along the scenic and peaceful lakeside, here we admire the imposing Scaligers’ castle before arriving at Milan, our orientation includes the Duomo, the 19th century Garreria, Great Gothic Cathedral of Milano, and “La Scala” Opera house. A morning trans-Atlantic flight back to the USA.
